South Kerry Local Employment Service
 
Brief Description/Introduction of Programme
The South Kerry Local Employment Service is an innovative network of services developed to meet the needs of the unemployed in South Kerry. It has been created to help these people to take practical steps towards getting a job by providing access to a range of employment, training and educational opportunities.
 
We aim to work with disadvantaged groups in the community, to help secure appropriate and sustainable employment, which will lead to a more stable financial future.
 
It is a service that was set up to give information and advice on opportunities, which are available to enable unemployed / under-employed people return to the world of work. These services include guidance, training, education and employment support. This service is completely confidential.

Eligibility Criteria/ Conditions of Aid

Who can use this service?
 
Anyone who are unemployed / underemployed and their dependant partners
People at risk of becoming unemployed
Lone parents
Early school leavers
People with disabilities
Small Holders
Women returners’
Ethnic minorities
People referred under the National Employment Action Plan
Ex Prisoners / Offenders
 
 
Other Sources of Aid

Services to the Jobs Seeker:
Give information and advice on jobs, careers, training and education in your area and around the country.
Linked to all State and community agencies, so we give you the information and help you need to apply for education, training courses and jobs.
 
We may be able to help you financially to undertake training / educational programmes
Because we help local employers to recruit staff, we can provide up-to-date information on jobs available in the area.
We can make sure that you’re getting all the expert advice and motivation you need by putting you in touch with a Mediator who will work with you on a one-to-one basis from day one. He or she will help you to make the most of our advice and guidance services and help you on the road back to the workplace. And if you like to be part of a group, we will refer you to the local jobs club.

Jobs Club:
The Jobs Club provides a wide range of facilities and services for JobsClub members who are actively seeking employment:
Help with interview skills
Preparation and development of CVs
Cover letter writing
Telephone techniques
Information on Cold calling
Access to newspapers, telephone and stationery
Computer and photocopying facilities
 
These services are available on one-to-one or in-group training. Contact our offices for further details.
 
Participants in JobsClub Training programmes may:
 
Receive an allowance towards expenses. This will not interfere with any benefits you may be in receipt of.
Have the opportunity to explore local work availability
