Business of the Month – Small Furniture

Small Furniture is a business specializing in unique handmade fairytale furniture for children. Each piece of furniture is a handcrafted, original design. You choose it, personalize it and they will make it. All at an affordable price. At Small Furniture, they embrace beauty, quality and uniqueness which is reflected in their handcrafted, tailor made furniture from sketchpad through to creation.

This dynamic new business was established in 2012 by Jacek Sobala and is located in Killorglin, Co. Kerry. As a parent, Jacek became increasingly frustrated when it came to locating quality furniture for his children. It became difficult to find a set that would last throughout their childhood, without paying too much! Thus, Jacek came to the conclusion that the only way around this was to design and build his own.  Jacek as a parent understands the importance of children’s furniture being durable, washable, spacious and beautiful.

Further details of this exciting new venture can be found on www.smallfurniture.info  Items available from Small Furniture range from Beds and Bookcases to Toy boxes, Wardrobes and Lockers. Mattresses and Duvet Sets can also be sourced and supplied

This new enterprise has emerged in 2012 with the help of the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA) facilitated by South Kerry Development Partnership Ltd (SKDP). This scheme encourages people getting certain social welfare payments to take up self employment opportunities by allowing them to retain a proportion of their social welfare payment, plus secondary benefits.

For further information on the BTWEA, please contact an Enterprise Officer from SKDP in your area. Joanne Griffin (Killorglin and Kenmare) on 087 615 2660 or Anne O Riordan (Cahersiveen and Killarney) on 066 947 2724.
