A course, aimed at providing participants with the skills and certification to maintain and work with small horticultural engines and abrasive wheels saw its first participants receive their certificates in Killorglin last week. The course was organised by the Local Employment Service operated through South Kerry Development Partnership CLG due to significant demand for such skills in the area. The training was funded by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, LES Co-ordinator Bridie Buckley thanked all involved in organising the course. She said that over the last number of years we have found that safety awareness has become very important in all workplaces and any job applicant who has a certificate or ticket in the various skills that is required in the workplace has the edge over a job applicant who has not. This course provides these participants with these key requirements she said.
Christina Carroll, from the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection, who presented the certificates, congratulated the participants who took part. She said the Department have come a long way in terms of delivering an accessible to service to our customers and it is extremely important as a customer to avail of any funding, educational and training opportunities available to you. Christina added that the success of the delivery of these services is the reason why we are here today whereby on the completion of this course it will add to your existing set of skills and/or enhance your prospects of re-entering the workplace.
