New LEADER Programme Coming Soon to South Kerry

Plans are being finalised at present to roll out the new LEADER Programme across South Kerry in the autumn. The programme will be implemented in the region by South Kerry Development Partnership CLG (SKDP) and will have an overall projects budget of just under €3m. As with the previous programme, a two-stage application/approval process will be in place with those interested in applying for funding firstly submitting an Expression of Interest to confirm the eligibility of the proposal and them going onto submit a full project application form.

The eligibility criteria for projects are broadly in line with the previous programme and SKDP will host a series of information meetings across the region during the month of September to provide advice and guidance to potential project promoters.

Project promoters are advised that planning permission or a grant of planning exemption, if required, must be in place before an application for funding can be made. The maximum grant aid available will be capped at €200,000 but it is noted that due to the significantly reduced budget, it is unlikely that projects seeking the maximum grant aid will be approved.

SKDP will be accepting Expression of Interest forms from promoters from Monday the 2nd of September.

Those who have further initial queries in relation to the programme are advised to contact either Maureen O’Donnell (modonnell@skdp.net // 066 9472724) in relation to the Cahersiveen/Kenmare area or Seán de Buitléar (sdebuitlear@skdp.net // 066 9761615) in relation to the Killorglin/Killarney area.
