Calling all involved in farming and fishing in Kenmare, Tuosist, Kilgarvan, Lauragh, Bonane, Sneem & Caherdaniel!
If you could do with earning a supplementary income, maybe the Rural Social Scheme (RSS) could be for you. It’s for low-income farmers and fisher-people who are unable to earn an adequate living from their farm holding/fishing. Participants are engaged for 19.5 hours a week in order to increase their weekly income and provide services of benefit to their rural communities.
We run these schemes across South Kerry (in co-operation with the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection) and with many farm incomes having reduced due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the RSS could be a way of gaining some lost income.
We have places to fill in the above districts so we’re actively seeking farmers who qualify to join our Rural Social Scheme Team; you must be in receipt of Farm Assist or Job Seekers Allowance and be actively farming in excess of one hectare.
Benefits include:
- Guaranteed and increased weekly income.
- Reduced isolation through work alongside other farmers on local projects.
- Make weekly PRSI contributions towards old age pension.
- Opportunity to use different skills due to the variety of work available – indoors and outdoors.
Contact your local supervisor: (they’ll complete the paperwork needed for you to join).
